Update docs for host_batch_size (#25632)
for #24967

This PR updates the documentation for the `host_batch_size` for both the
failing policies webhook and the vulnerabilities webhook. The new
documentation matches the actual behavior when `host_batch_size` is set
to 0.

Updated anatomy and teams guide (#25629)
Closes https://github.com/fleetdm/fleet/issues/24615

Updated anatomy to:
- Include a more accurate definition of teams
- Updated out-of-date links. Specifically FleetUI that linked to the
queries guide. I updated to link directly to the FleetUI YouTube video.
- Consolidated osquery, Orbit, and Fleetd Chrome extension definitions
under "Fleetd."
- Updated Host vitals and Software definitions

Updated teams guide.
- Fixed some typos and re-phrased a couple of paragraphs for easier
readability
- I provided the missing instructions for adding hosts to teams
(probably should have PR'd this separately, but got carried away)

Reference docs: "Agent configuration" page cleanup (#25290)
This PR brings the "Agent configuration" format/organization closer to
the format we use for all other reference docs (YAML files, REST API,
and Fleet server configuration)

Changes:
- Update page headers so that the right-side navigation includes all the
top-level keys. Similar to the YAML files docs.
- Brings examples to the top of each section after a short description
(if necessary)
- Cut content
- Update "Learn more" links to more recent guides

feat: add software title ID to add software activity (#24577)
> Related issue: #24120

## Changes
- Added the `software_title_id` field to the activity details for
`added_software` activities, which get generated when adding a customer
installer or a FMA
- Added a return value (`titleID`) to
`ds.MatchOrCreateSoftwareInstaller`
- Removed `ds.GetSoftwareTitleIDByMaintainedAppID`. Since we're
returning the new value above, this method was no longer needed.

## Testing steps
1. Add a custom installer
2. Add a FMA
3. Check the activity details in the response to `GET /activities`.
Verify that the `software_title_id` field exists and is correct.
4. Add a FMA with automatic install. Make sure the policy is correctly
created, has the correct software title ID associated with it, and that
it installs the app.

Update contributor API docs to cover LUKS trigger/escrow endpoints (#23583, #23584) (#23943)
Other cleanup:

* Remove orphaned FileVault rotation ToC link
* Revise transparency endpoint to reference new "About Fleet"
terminology
* Remove enforce_bitlocker_encryption Fleet Desktop notification (that
notification is on Orbit config, which we don't document in contributor
docs, not on the Fleet Desktop endpoint)

Update single-sign-on-sso.md (#22500)
This is a really bad PR. I am sorry. I previewed it and I know it looks
horrible. Please consider it only little stickerboard of ideas.

I do, however, stand by these ideas (though not my execution of them):
- changing the first sentence to clarify whether or not this is SSO for
the Fleet console GUI/CLI experience, or if we're talking about end user
admin for employees using Fleet Desktop / getting "zero touched"
(signing into their ABM'd or autopiloted devices)
- finding some way to name Okta, and ideally the other examples I
provided, for SEO, to give people examples from a set, to get
recognizable names of the integratiion above the fold, to give people a
dash of personality by including authentik
- consolidating JIT and the other SAML implementation details into a
sentence
- unhoisting it downards (though not in the weird way I did it) -

Changes:
- Standard query library:
- Added three policies to the Standard query library (tagged as premium)
- Changed the `kind` of the "Identify Apple development secrets (macOS)"
query to `policy` because it is an informational query (It returns rows
of results rather than 1 or 0) and removed its `resolution` value
- Updated the build-static-content script to remove platform names from
the end of query names (e.g., (macOS)). This is done to keep the URLs
for queries the same while hiding them in the UI
- Updated the layout of the queries page to match the latest wireframes
and updated the page to only show policies
 - Updated the styles and layout of the queries-details page.

Add iOS/iPadOS updates to example GitOps YAML, reference OS update GitOps YAML from OS update enforcement guide (#23320)
#21998

While looking through this I noticed a few other issues:

1. We seem to be inconsistent about what time we pick for OS update
deadlines. For profiles [it's noon local
time](2e5bf75b6d/ee/server/service/mdm.go (L1096)),
while for Nudge [it appears to be 4am...server time or
UTC](2e5bf75b6d/server/fleet/nudge.go (L53-L57))?
#9013 also mentions "noon UTC-8/Pacific Standard Time", which is neither
of the above (and means that, if implemented as spec'd, the deadline
would shift by an hour during DST), while docs prior to this PR
mentioned 4am UTC-8. Maybe we don't care enough to fix the Nudge
behavior since macOS 14 (which no longer requires Nudge) came out over a
year ago, but we should at least agree on desired behavior for DDM and
document that (which is what I've done for iOS/iPad OS since they don't
use Nudge).
2. The [REST API
docs](2e5bf75b6d/docs/REST%20API/rest-api.md (L1720-L1757))
don't seem to match the description of macOS behavior in the article;
the former indicates that OS updates pop up with increasing frequency
post-deadline, rather than having an impassible dialog. This may be
because behavior changed from Nudge to DDM, but iOS/iPadOS got
copy-pasted from the macOS REST docs and they never used Nudge. My guess
is that we should describe DDM behavior here.

Tagging in @mna as he looks to have implemented DDM OS updates so should
have some context here, and @noahtalerman to confirm desired behavior,
particularly on the deadline side.

Docs quick reference optimization (#21331)
This PR closes https://github.com/fleetdm/fleet/issues/21108

@noahtalerman, I double-checked all redirects, and they are working.
Clicking through the URLs in [this
spreadsheet](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1djVynIMuJK4pT5ziJW12CluVqcaoxxnCLaBO3VXfAt4/edit?usp=sharing)
is a pretty quick way to go through them all. Note that "Audit logs" and
"Understanding host vitals" redirect to the contributor docs on GitHub,
so they will throw a 404 until this is merged.

Some new guides benefitted from a name change, so they make more sense
as stand-alone guides, and also so that we don't have to mess around
with more redirects later. Those name changes followed [this
convention](https://fleetdm.com/handbook/company/communications#headings-and-titles),
which was recently documented in the handbook.

Have fun!

I have updated the list of tutorials and guides in the docs.

Although the brief stated the cut down the list to only the top 10,
@nonpunctual and I whittled the list down to curate the top 20 guides
that we believe are relevant to users who are deploying and setting up
Fleet. We listed them in order of operation as much as possible.

Detect software from deb_packages which is 'on hold' (#20751)
The list of installed software was missing packages put ['on
hold'](https://askubuntu.com/questions/18654/how-to-prevent-updating-of-a-specific-package)

The reason for this is that the old query looks for the status

    install ok installed

but there are other valid status which are also installed, like `hold ok
installed`. The syntax is `<desired> <error> <status>` so we only need
to look at the last or two last parts and ignore the first one.

See https://man7.org/linux/man-pages/man1/dpkg-query.1.html for a list
of status.

Minor Fix Fleet Server Configuration Docs Markdown Docs (#20498)
- Removes _"Optional unique identifier that can be used by the principal
assuming the role to assert its identity."_ text as it:
1. Is (possibly?) duplicative of _"AWS STS External ID to use for
Firehose authentication. This is typically used in conjunction with an
STS role ARN to ensure that only the intended AWS account can assume the
role."_
2. Seems ill-placed (even if it should persist, if should probably be
nested under the [`firehose_sts_external_id`
heading](https://fleetdm.com/docs/configuration/fleet-server-configuration#firehose-sts-external-id))
- Fixes markdown formatting on `firehose_sts_assume_role_arn` by adding
another newline char so the resulting HTML gets properly rendered (as an
`<h5>`) _outside the `<ul>` tag:_

add linux platform tuxedo (#19011)
# Changes

I'm running orbit based osqueryd on a laptop with [Tuxedo
OS](https://www.tuxedocomputers.com/en/TUXEDO-OS_1.tuxedo#).
This OS identifies its platform via osquery as `tuxedo` and is therefore
not recognized by the Fleet server:

```json
{
    "err": "unrecognized platform",
    "hostID": 76,
    "level": "error",
    "platform": "tuxedo",
    "ts": "2024-05-15T13:17:34.513509387Z"
}
```

This causes policy and scheduled queries to not being run on my system.
With this PR Im adding `tuxedo` to all occurrences found when searching
for `kali`.

Additionally pre-commit checks were failing for me locally as it could
not find the hook-id `RuboCop`. This could be solved by using `rubocop`
instead.
Afterwards all pre-commit checks succeeded locally.

Support Ubuntu 24.04 with Xorg (by detecting user's DISPLAY environment variable) (#18996)
#18925 (Should also fix #17660.)

Tests:
- Ubuntu 22.04.2
	- Wayland
		- Works with chrome
		- Doesn't work with Firefox.
	- Xorg
		- Works with Chrome.
		- Works with Firefox.
- Ubuntu 24.04
	- Wayland

		- Doesn't work with Firefox.
- Xorg (when using Xorg it defaults to `DISPLAY=:1`, and with the
changes in this PR it works):
		- Works with Chrome.
		- Works with Firefox.
---

How to change between Wayland and Xorg:

- Set `WaylandEnable=false` in `/etc/gdm3/custom.conf` and reboot.

---

How to determine what's running:
```sh
$ loginctl
SESSION  UID USER SEAT  TTY
      2 1000 luk  seat0 tty2
     c2 1000 luk
$ loginctl show-session 2 -p Type
# will output
Type=wayland
or
Type=x11
## Notes
- ~I added an `includeTitle bool` parameter to
`ds.GetSoftwareInstallerMetadata`. This allows for the title of the
software (from the `software_titles` page) to be fetched in
`svc.DeleteSoftwareInstaller` without an additional call to the DB.~ We
wound up deciding to just fetch the title every time.
Docs improvements uncovered during
- Update end user auth docs to link to SSO docs. So the user knows what
do to get the necessary info from their IdP (create an Okta/GW app)
- Cut content from SSO docs and move Okta and Google Workspace to top
level headers
- "IDP" => "IdP"
- Use **bold** styling to indicate UI elements in docs (instead of
_italics_)
Windows MDM Fix Manual Detection (#17721)
#15565
Replace the use of the isFederated registry key with a keys that check
for AAD (Azure Active Directory, now Entra ID)
Federated enrollment (`isFederated`) seems to be when windows uses a
Discovery MDM endpoint to get its policy and management endpoint
configuration. This is always the case when a client is enrolled with
fleet, so installations always show up as automatic.
It's being replaced by a different key, `AADResourceID`, which appears
to identify the resource that controls the automated deployment. In my
tests it only appears to be populated when the computer is enrolled
through automated deployments. This key appears on both Windows 10 and
11.
There is a similar key, `AADTenantID`, which appears to identify the
client (tenant) to the Azure cloud. I haven't seen this ID in our
systems, so it is likely exclusively used in Azure. Both this key and
`AADResourceID` seem to always be set at the same time, so we only
check for the `AADResourceID`.
I've also added documentation on the registry keys I've analyzed for future reference.
fix: update k8s manifests for kubernetes install (#16570)
When attempting to follow the kubernetes install directions I
encountered a few issues.
1. The image version was no longer hosted on dockerhub. And new versions
now are tagged with a "v" prefix.
2. The webserver was not able to bind to port 443 on a managed version
of k8s.
3. The dns name(s) for the latest redis helm chart have changed. They
are now `{release}-master` for read-write and `{release}-replica` for
read only nodes.
4. The deployment API is out of date.
This PR fixes those issues.
Update standard-query-library.yml (#16271)
It is very easy for data collection like this to veer into double /
triple negative mulitverse of madness stuff...
That said, I may have a lack of understanding about how the product
works, i.e., that a query literally must return a 0 value & not null in
order to "pass" in a policy. If so, then this works as expected.
However, if a query just needs to return empty (null) & 0 is implied in
the logic that sets a policy flag to green or red, then, as a rule,
queries like this should be always be simplified & should default to
using "positive" as opposed to "negative" logic, i.e., check if
something exists, never check if a thing does NOT exist.
# Checklist for submitter
- [x] Input data is properly validated, `SELECT *` is avoided, SQL
injection is prevented (using placeholders for values in statements)
- [x] Added/updated tests: Tested by adding dummy Emergency Kit.pdf
Reduce server load for fleetd upgrade (#15606)
📺 Loom:
https://www.loom.com/share/9e17848963574af3aa10d426b450bcd0?sid=f8078293-c7e1-4864-a8a3-4cec996971f5
#15476
#15540
#15542
After upgrading fleetd, customer-blanco saw a spike in traffic and a
spike in DB connections. These fixes attempt to reduce the traffic and
DB load when fleetd is upgraded.
On the server, added fleet/device/{token}/ping endpoint to be used by
agents to check their token.
On the agent:
- Removed call to fleet/orbit/device_token unless token needs to be
updated.
- Changed call to fleet/device/{token}/desktop with a less resource
intensive call to fleet/device/{token}/ping
- Removed call to fleet/orbit/ping
REST API docs: Consistent URL parameter formatting (#15535)
Makes parameter formatting in documented REST API paths consistent.
Previously, we were using a mix of `/foo/:parameter/bar` and
noticed in a couple places.
2023-11-21 Website: Add new usage statistics (#15263)
Closes: #15255
Changes:
- Added the usage statistics added in
https://github.com/fleetdm/fleet/pull/14216 to the inputs of the
`receive-usage-analytics` webhook.
- Updated the `receive-usage-analytics` webhook to send the new usage
statistics to Datadog.
- Added attributes for the new usage statistics to the
`HistoricalUsageSnapshot` model.
- Removed the `columnName` from the `hostsStatusWebHookEnabled`
attribute of the `HistoricalUsageSnapshot` model, the name of this
column will be changed in the database when the new columns are added to
the databse table.
- Updated the usage statistics documentation to have the new statistics.
This PR requires database migrations. When this is approved and ready to
merge, we will need to:
- [ ] Merge this PR
- [ ] Put fleetdm.com into maintenance mode while the "Deploy Fleet
website" GH action runs.
- [ ] Add the new columns to the database table
- [ ] Change the name of the `hostStatusWebhookEnabled` column to
`hostsStatusWebHookEnabled`
- [ ] Set the default values for the new columns on the existing
records.
- [ ] When the website has finished redeploying, take it out of
maintenance mode.
Enroll hosts docs improvements (#14862)
Summary:
- Enroll hosts page refinement
- Since page was too long and had a lot of content I did following:
    - Moved most important sections to the top
- Did some changes to make things more consistent, when possible having
UI and CLI sections with steps (ordered list)
- Moved `Add hosts with plain osquery` to contributor docs, since I
learned this approach is used just by couple of Fleet customers, and we
don't advise this as best practice anymore
- Added overview (table of contents) on the top to make easier to
navigate through the page
- Moved some technical (advanced) topics into separate section on the
bottom of the page
Update ATC docs for TCC.db example (#14914)
I've updated the ATC example that uses TCC.db to be cross-compatible
with as many MacOS versions as possible. This is still useful as-is.
I've also added a chunk for folks to copy/paste directly into their team
settings in the UI for those not using GitOps.
Hopefully others find this helpful!
FAQ update (#14813)
Closes https://github.com/fleetdm/fleet/issues/14814
Changes:
- moved the FAQs from the pricing page to the FAQs in the docs. The
theory is that these questions are a long way down the page and likely
being missed.
- Added five more questions and answers to the FAQ from questions that
come up during customer calls.
- Commented out existing questions. Some are out of date, and some have
been dumped into the FAQ for lack of a better place to put them. We will
continue to add to this list with stronger content from talking with
users and customers.
- added a link to the FAQ on the pricing page.
Remove list of Windows CIS policies that require a Group Policy template (#14352)
This change is to reduce surface area of the conceptual docs. We already
point users toward how to identify the policies that need a Group Policy
template:
> These items are tagged with the label
`CIS_group_policy_template_required` in the YAML file, and details about
the required Group Policy templates can be found in each item's
`resolution`.
Keeping a duplicate list here is just more surface area to maintain, aka
more content that's likely to get out-of date. (And since it's in a code
block anyway, it's not any easier to read here than by just referencing
the YAML file directly, so the user experience won't suffer from us
removing it.)
