c0757d1d44 fix(ivy): attached flag not being reset when view is destroyed (#29064)
Currently we only reset the `Attached` flag of a view if it is detached through its parent, however this means that if a root view is destroyed, its flag will never be reset. This manifested itself in one of the Material tests where we were destroying the root view.

This PR resolves FW-1130.

7ac58bec8a fix(ivy): move views that are already attached in insert() (#29047)
Currently if a user accidentally calls ViewContainerRef.insert() with
a view that has already been attached, we do not clean up the references
properly, so we create a view tree with a cycle. This causes an infinite
loop when the view is destroyed.

This PR ensures that we fall back to ViewContainerRef.move() behavior
if we try to insert a view that is already attached. This fixes the
cycle and honors the user intention.

25a2fef303 fix(ivy): ViewRef.rootNodes not including projected nodes (#28951)
Currently if an embedded view contains projected nodes, its `rootNodes` array will include `null` instead of the root nodes inside the projection slot. This manifested itself in one of the Material unit tests where we stamp out a template and then move its `rootNodes` into the overlay container.

19afb791b4 feat(core): allow users to define timing of ViewChild/ContentChild queries (#28810)
Prior to this commit, the timing of `ViewChild`/`ContentChild` query
resolution depended on the results of each query. If any results
for a particular query were nested inside embedded views (e.g.
*ngIfs), that query would be resolved after change detection ran.
Otherwise, the query would be resolved as soon as nodes were created.

This inconsistency in resolution timing had the potential to cause
confusion because query results would sometimes be available in
ngOnInit, but sometimes wouldn't be available until ngAfterContentInit
or ngAfterViewInit. Code depending on a query result could suddenly
stop working as soon as an *ngIf or an *ngFor was added to the template.

With this commit, users can dictate when they want a particular
`ViewChild` or `ContentChild` query to be resolved with the `static`
flag. For example, one can mark a particular query as `static: false`
to ensure change detection always runs before its results are set:

```ts
@ContentChild('foo', {static: false}) foo !: ElementRef;
```

This means that even if there isn't a query result wrapped in an
*ngIf or an *ngFor now, adding one to the template later won't change
the timing of the query resolution and potentially break your component.

Similarly, if you know that your query needs to be resolved earlier
(e.g. you need results in an ngOnInit hook), you can mark it as
`static: true`.

```ts
@ViewChild(TemplateRef, {static: true}) foo !: TemplateRef;
```

Note: this means that your component will not support *ngIf results.

If you do not supply a `static` option when creating your `ViewChild` or
`ContentChild` query, the default query resolution timing will kick in.

Note: This new option only applies to `ViewChild` and `ContentChild`
queries, not `ViewChildren` or `ContentChildren` queries, as those types
already resolve after CD runs.

6788d86709 build: fix validate-commit-message on Windows (#28780)
Previously, the `validate-commit-message` gulp task was using the
`git log ... ^r1 r2` syntax to list commits between the base branch and
the current head. This didn't work as expected on Windows, because `^`
is the escape character. As a result, the command was equivalent to
`git log ... r1 r2` on Windows, which essentially logs all commits
reachable from either `r1` or `r2`.

This commit fixes it by switching to git's
[double-dot range notation][1] (`r1..r2`), which is an alias for the
`^r1 r2` syntax and works correctly on all platforms.

63e5d2787b fix(ivy): rethrow event handler errors in tests (#28707)

553f80ff46 fix(ivy): set proper implementation for module injector (#28667)
Prior to this change we used current injector implementation for module injector, which was causing problems and produces circular dependencies in case the same token is referenced (with @SkipSelf flag) in the `deps` array. The origin of the problem was that once `directiveInject` implementation becomes active, it was used for module injector as well, thus searching deps in Component/Directive DI scope. This fix sets `injectInjectorOnly` implementation for module injector to resolve the problem.

1950e2d9ba fix(ivy): throw on bindings to unknown properties (#28537)
This commit adds a devMode-only check which will throw if a user
attempts to bind a property that does not match a directive
input or a known HTML property.

Example:
```
<div [unknownProp]="someValue"></div>
```

The above will throw because "unknownProp" is not a known
property of HTMLDivElement.

This check is similar to the check executed in View Engine during
template parsing, but occurs at runtime instead of compile-time.

Note: This change uncovered an existing bug with host binding
inheritance, so some Material tests had to be turned off. They
will be fixed in an upcoming PR.

c0b383590e ci: fix symbol test to handle duplicate symbols (#28459)
In 7cb8396, we improved the symbol test to remove suffixes from
the output, so "CIRCULAR$1" became "CIRCULAR". However, the logic
that checked for extra symbols depended on each symbol being unique.
If multiple symbols with the same name were added (e.g. pulled in
from separate files), they would be added to the map as "extras",
even if they were marked as expected in the golden file.

This commit updates the symbol checking logic to take multiple
symbols with the same name into account.

ac157170c8 feat(forms): export NumberValueAccessor & RangeValueAccessor directives (#27743)
@angular/forms declares several directives and a module which are not
exported from the package via the entrypoint, either intentionally or as a
historical accident.

Ivy's locality principle necessitates that directives used in user code be
importable from the package which defines them. This requires these forms
directives to be exported.

Several directives which define ControlValueAccessors are exported:

* NumberValueAccessor
* RangeValueAccessor

A few more directives and a module are exported privately (with a ɵ prefix):

* NgNoValidate
* NgSelectMultipleOption

12c317603a feat(router): add predicate function mode for runGuardsAndResolvers (#27682)
This option means guards and resolvers will ignore changes when a provided predicate function returns `false`. This supports use cases where an application needs to ignore some param updates but not others. For example, changing a sort param in the URL might need to be ignored, whereas changing the a `project` param might require re-run of guards and resolvers.

e94975d109 fix(ivy): check semantics of NgModule for consistency (#27604)
`NgModule` requires that `Component`s/`Directive`s/`Pipe`s are listed in
declarations, and that each `Component`s/`Directive`s/`Pipe` is declared
in exactly one `NgModule`. This change adds runtime checks to ensure
that these sementics are true at runtime.

There will need to be seperate set of checks for the AoT path of the
codebase to verify that same set of semantics hold. Due to current
design there does not seem to be an easy way to share the two checks
because JIT deal with references where as AoT deals with AST nodes.

d70a7f3ac9 feat(router): add pathParamsOrQueryParamsChange mode for runGuardsAndResolvers (#27464)
This option means guards and resolvers will ignore changes to matrix parameters. Guards and resolvers will be rerun when the path changes, when path parameters change, or when query parameters change.

The primary use case for such a mode is when updating the UI and getting the URL to be in sync with local changes. For example, if displaying a sortable table, changing the sort direction is often handled by the table itself. But you would want to update the URL to be in sync with what's being displayed to the user. As long as the table sort direction is stored as a matrix parameter, you can use this option to update the URL without causing the overhead of re-running guards and resolvers.

39e426cde3 fix(ivy): TestBed.get(Compiler) throws "Error: Runtime compiler is not loaded" (#27223)
BREAKING CHANGE:

The public API for `DebugNode` was accidentally too broad. This change removes
1. Public constructor. Since `DebugNode` is a way for Angular to communicate information
   on to the developer there is no reason why the developer should ever need to
   Instantiate the `DebugNode`
2. We are also removing `removeChild`, `addChild`, `insertBefore`, and `insertChildAfter`.
   All of these methods are used by Angular to constructor the correct `DebugNode` tree.
   There is no reason why the developer should ever be constructing a `DebugNode` tree
   And these methods should have never been made public.
3. All properties have been change to `readonly` since `DebugNode` is used by Angular
   to communicate to developer and there is no reason why these APIs should be writable.

While technically breaking change we don’t expect anyone to be effected by this change.

23b06af940 fix(core): export a value for InjectFlags (#27279)
A recent commit (probably 2c7386c) has changed the import graph of the
DI types in core, and somehow results in the ngc compiler deciding to
re-export core DI types from application factories which tangentially
use inject(). This is not really surprising; ngc's import graph can be
very unstable.

However, this results in a re-export of InjectFlags surviving JS
compilation. InjectFlags was a const enum, akin to an interface in TS,
with no runtime repesentation. This causes a warning to be emitted by
Webpack when it sees the re-export of InjectFlags.

This commit avoids the issue by removing 'const' from the declaration
of InjectFlags, causing it to have a runtime value. This is a temporary
fix. The real fix will be for ngc to no longer write exports of const
enums.

Testing strategy: manually verified. Due to the problem only manifesting
when recompiling after a change and then running Webpack, there is no
existing framework via which this could be easily tested with an
integration test. Additionally, the potential for this issue is gone in
Ivy, so this solution is only temporarily needed.

93837e9545 feat(upgrade): support downgrading multiple modules (#26217)
Currently, calling `downgradeModule()` more than once is not supported.
If one wants to downgrade multiple Angular modules, they can create a
"super-module" that imports all the rest and downgrade that.

This commit adds support for downgrading multiple Angular modules. If
multiple modules are downgraded, then one must explicitly specify the
downgraded module that each downgraded component or injectable belongs
to, when calling `downgradeComponent()` and `downgradeInjectable()`
respectively.

No modification is needed (i.e. there is no need to specify a module for
downgraded components and injectables), if an app is not using
`downgradeModule()` or if there is only one downgraded Angular module.

4237c34c78 test(ivy): mark failing test targets with fixme-ivy-jit and fixme-ivy-local tags (#26471)
We are close enough to blacklist a few test targets, rather than whitelist targets to run...

Because bazel rules can be composed of other rules that don't inherit tags automatically,
I had to explicitly mark all of our ts_library and ng_module targes with "ivy-local" and
"ivy-jit" tags so that we can create a query that excludes all fixme- tagged targets even
if those targets are composed of other targets that don't inherit this tag.

This is the updated overview of ivy related bazel tags:

- ivy-only: target that builds or runs only under ivy
- fixme-ivy-jit: target that doesn't yet build or run under ivy with --compile=jit
- fixme-ivy-local: target that doesn't yet build or run under ivy with --compile=local
- no-ivy-jit: target that is not intended to build or run under ivy with --compile=jit

d83f9d432a fix(common): register locale data for all equivalent closure locales (#25867)
This fix is for the issue below when compiling I18N Angular apps using closure.

For certain locales closure converts the input locale id to a different equivalent locale string. For example if the input locale is 'id'(for Indonesia) goog.LOCALE is set to 'in' and the closure locale data is registered only for 'in'. The Angular compiler uses the original input locale string, 'id' to set the LOCALE_ID token and there is a mismatch of locale used to register and locale used when requesting the locale data.

The fix is for the closure-locale.ts code to register the locale data for all equivalent locales names so that it doesn't matter what goog.LOCALE is actually set to.

60aeee7abf feat(ivy): selector side of ModuleWithProviders via type metadata (#24862)
Within an @NgModule it's common to include in the imports a call to
a ModuleWithProviders function, for example RouterModule.forRoot().
The old ngc compiler was able to handle this pattern because it had
global knowledge of metadata of not only the input compilation unit
but also all dependencies.

The ngtsc compiler for Ivy doesn't have this knowledge, so the
pattern of ModuleWithProviders functions is more difficult. ngtsc
must be able to determine which module is imported via the function
in order to expand the selector scope and properly tree-shake
directives and pipes.

This commit implements a solution to this problem, by adding a type
parameter to ModuleWithProviders through which the actual module
type can be passed between compilation units.

The provider side isn't a problem because the imports are always
copied directly to the ngInjectorDef.

00c110b055 build: upgrade jasmine (and related typings) to latest version (#19904)
With these changes, the types are a little stricter now and also not
compatible with Protractor's jasmine-like syntax. So, we have to also
use `@types/jasminewd2` for e2e tests (but not for non-e2e tests).

I also had to "augment" `@types/jasminewd2`, because the latest
typings from [DefinitelyTyped][1] do not reflect the fact that the
`jasminewd2` version (v2.1.0) currently used by Protractor supports
passing a `done` callback to a spec.

69510acb20 test(ivy): symbol extractor should handle different compile options (#24677)
The js_expected_symbol_test implementation extracts symbols names
from a rollup iife bundle. Previously, it only handled the case
with a simple 'var bundle = ...;' statement.

Sometimes, rollup produces a more complex bundle, where the 'bundle'
variable is not the only top-level variable declared in the same
declaration statement. This commit patches the symbol exctractor
to support this more complex case.

Additionally, when the symbol test fails, it prints a command to
accept the symbol diff. This command needs to include the
--define=compile flag to ensure the diff is applied in the same
compile mode as the test was run.

1eafd04eb3 build(ivy): support alternate compilation modes to enable Ivy testing (#24056)
Bazel has a restriction that a single output (eg. a compiled version of
//packages/common) can only be produced by a single rule. This precludes
the Angular repo from having multiple rules that build the same code. And
the complexity of having a single rule produce multiple outputs (eg. an
ngc-compiled version of //packages/common and an Ivy-enabled version) is
too high.

Additionally, the Angular repo has lots of existing tests which could be
executed as-is under Ivy. Such testing is very valuable, and it would be
nice to share not only the code, but the dependency graph / build config
as well.

Thus, this change introduces a --define flag 'compile' with three potential
values. When --define=compile=X is set, the entire build system runs in a
particular mode - the behavior of all existing targets is controlled by
the flag. This allows us to reuse our entire build structure for testing
in a variety of different manners. The flag has three possible settings:

* legacy (the default): the traditional View Engine (ngc) build
* local: runs the prototype ngtsc compiler, which does not rely on global
  analysis
* jit: runs ngtsc in a mode which executes tsickle, but excludes the
  Angular related transforms, which approximates the behavior of plain
  tsc. This allows the main packages such as common to be tested with
  the JIT compiler.

Additionally, the ivy_ng_module() rule still exists and runs ngc in a mode
where Ivy-compiled output is produced from global analysis information, as
a stopgap while ngtsc is being developed.

08325aaffc feat(service-worker): add support for configuring navigations URLs (#23339)
The ServiceWorker will redirect navigation requests that don't match any
`asset` or `data` group to the specified index file. The rules for a
request to be classified as a navigation request are as follows:
1. Its `mode` must be `navigation`.
2. It must accept a `text/html` response.
3. Its URL must match certain criteria (see below).

By default, a navigation request can have any URL except for:
1. URLs containing `__`.
2. URLs to files (i.e. containing a file extension in the last path
   segment).

While these rules are fine in many cases, sometimes it is desirable to
configure different rules for the URLs of navigation requests (e.g.
ignore specific URLs and pass them through to the server).

This commit adds support for specifying an optional `navigationUrls`
list in `ngsw-config.json`, which contains URLs or simple globs
(currently only recognizing `!`, `*` and `**`).
Only requests whose URLs match any of the positive URLs/patterns and
none of the negative ones (i.e. URLs/patterns starting with `!`) will be
considered navigation requests (and handled accordingly by the SW).

(This is an alternative implementation to #23025.)

ac316be79b build: remove unnecessary stability check (#23176)
Previously, it was necessary to attach on of the three "stability"
jsdoc tags (`@stable`, `@deprecated` or `@experimental`) to each
public API export.

To ensure that the public API was correctly tagged, the `ts-api-guardian`
would check that one of these tags appeared on every public export.

Now the doc-gen is able to compute that a code item is stable if
it does not contain the `@experimental` nor `@deprecated` tags.

Therefore there is no need to provide the `@stable` tag any more; and
this tag has now been marked as deprecated - i.e. it should not be used.

The ts-api-guardian has been modified in this commit so that it no longer
warns/fails if the `@stable` is missing.

689f351092 build: expose flatModuleOutFile option on ng_module (#22814)
This lets projects like Material change ng_package "bundle index" files to non-conflicting paths

Currently packages like @angular/core ship with the generated metadata
in a path like 'core.js' which overwrites one of the inputs.

Angular material puts the generated file in a path like 'index.js'

Either way these files generated by ng_module rules have the potential
to collide with inputs given by the user, which results in an error.

Instead, give users the freedom to choose a different non-conflicting name.

Also this refactors the ng_package rule, removing the redundant
secondary_entry_points attribute.

Instead, we assume that any ng_module in the deps with a module_name
attribute is a secondary entry point.

37fedd001c feat(core): add task tracking to Testability (#16863)
Allow passing an optional timeout to Testability's whenStable(). If
specified, if Angular is not stable before the timeout is hit, the
done callback will be invoked with a list of pending macrotasks.

Also, allows an optional update callback, which will be invoked whenever
the set of pending macrotasks changes. If this callback returns true,
the timeout will be cancelled and the done callback will not be invoked.

If the optional parameters are not passed, whenStable() will work
as it did before, whether or not the task tracking zone spec is
available.

This change also migrates the Testability unit tests off the deprecated
AsyncTestCompleter.

8fb34bcd43 refactor(forms): deprecate ngModel usage on same field as formControl (#22633)
Support for using the `ngModel` input property and `ngModelChange`
event with reactive form directives has been deprecated in
Angular v6 and will be removed in Angular v7.

Now deprecated:
```html
<input [formControl]="control" [(ngModel)]="value">
```

```ts
this.value = 'some value';
```

This has been deprecated for a few reasons. First, developers have
found this pattern confusing. It seems like the actual `ngModel`
directive is being used, but in fact it's an input/output property
named `ngModel` on the reactive form directive that simply approximates
(some of) its behavior. Specifically, it allows getting/setting the
value and intercepting value events. However, some of `ngModel`'s other
features - like delaying updates with`ngModelOptions` or exporting the
directive - simply don't work, which has understandably caused some
confusion.

In addition, this pattern mixes template-driven and reactive forms
strategies, which we generally don't recommend because it doesn't take
advantage of the full benefits of either strategy. Setting the value in
the template violates the template-agnostic principles behind reactive
forms, whereas adding a FormControl/FormGroup layer in the class removes
the convenience of defining forms in the template.

To update your code before v7, you'll want to decide whether to stick
with reactive form directives (and get/set values using reactive forms
patterns) or switch over to template-driven directives.

After (choice 1 - use reactive forms):

```html
<input [formControl]="control">
```

```ts
this.control.setValue('some value');
```

After (choice 2 - use template-driven forms):

```html
<input [(ngModel)]="value">
```

```ts
this.value = 'some value';
```

You can also choose to silence this warning by providing a config for
`ReactiveFormsModule` at import time:

```ts
imports: [
  ReactiveFormsModule.withConfig({warnOnNgModelWithFormControl: 'never'});
]
```

Alternatively, you can choose to surface a separate warning for each
instance of this pattern with a config value of `"always"`. This may
help to track down where in the code the pattern is being used as the
code is being updated.

Note: `warnOnNgModelWithFormControl` is set up as deprecated so that it
can be removed in v7 when it is no longer needed. This will not display
properly in API docs yet because dgeni doesn't yet support deprecating
properties in object literals, but we have an open issue to resolve the
discrepancy here: https://github.com/angular/angular/issues/22640.

f755db78dc fix(core): require factory to be provided for shakeable InjectionToken (#22207)
InjectionToken can be created with an ngInjectableDef, and previously
this allowed the full expressiveness of @Injectable. However, this
requires a runtime reflection system in order to generate factories
from expressed provider declarations.

Instead, this change requires scoped InjectionTokens to provide the
factory directly (likely using inject() for the arguments), bypassing
the need for a reflection system.

7ac34e42a0 feat: allow direct scoping of @Injectables to the root injector (#22185)
@Injectable() supports a scope parameter which specifies the target module.
However, it's still difficult to specify that a particular service belongs
in the root injector. A developer attempting to ensure that must either
also provide a module intended for placement in the root injector or target
a module known to already be in the root injector (e.g. BrowserModule).
Both of these strategies are cumbersome and brittle.

Instead, this commit adds a token APP_ROOT_SCOPE which provides a
straightforward way of targeting the root injector directly, without
requiring special knowledge of modules within it.

235a235fab feat: change @Injectable() to support tree-shakeable tokens (#22005)
This commit bundles 3 important changes, with the goal of enabling tree-shaking
of services which are never injected. Ordinarily, this tree-shaking is prevented
by the existence of a hard dependency on the service by the module in which it
is declared.

Firstly, @Injectable() is modified to accept a 'scope' parameter, which points
to an @NgModule(). This reverses the dependency edge, permitting the module to
not depend on the service which it "provides".

Secondly, the runtime is modified to understand the new relationship created
above. When a module receives a request to inject a token, and cannot find that
token in its list of providers, it will then look at the token for a special
ngInjectableDef field which indicates which module the token is scoped to. If
that module happens to be in the injector, it will behave as if the token
itself was in the injector to begin with.

Thirdly, the compiler is modified to read the @Injectable() metadata and to
generate the special ngInjectableDef field as part of TS compilation, using the
PartialModules system.

Additionally, this commit adds several unit and integration tests of various
flavors to test this change.

82bcd83566 feat(compiler): allow ngIf to use the ngIf expression directly as a guard
Allows a directive to use the expression passed directly to a property

e7d9cb3e4c feat(compiler): narrow types of expressions used in *ngIf (#20702)
Structural directives can now specify a type guard that describes
what types can be inferred for an input expression inside the
directive's template.

NgIf was modified to declare an input guard on ngIf.

After this change, `fullTemplateTypeCheck` will infer that
usage of `ngIf` expression inside it's template is truthy.

For example, if a component has a property `person?: Person`
and a template of `<div *ngIf="person"> {{person.name}} </div>`
the compiler will no longer report that `person` might be null or
undefined.

The template compiler will generate code similar to,

```
  if (NgIf.ngIfTypeGuard(instance.person)) {
    instance.person.name
  }
```

to validate the template's use of the interpolation expression.
Calling the type guard in this fashion allows TypeScript to infer
that `person` is non-null.

b9a91a5e74 fix(service-worker): don't crash if SW not supported
Currently a bug exists where attempting to inject SwPush crashes the
application if Service Workers are unsupported. This happens because
SwPush doesn't properly detect that navigator.serviceWorker isn't
set.

This change ensures that all passive observation of SwPush and
SwUpdate doesn't cause crashes, and that calling methods to perform
actions on them results in rejected Promises. It's up to applications
to detect when those services are not available, and refrain from
attempting to use them.

To that end, this change also adds an `isSupported` getter to both
services, so users don't have to rely on feature detection directly
with browser APIs. Currently this simply detects whether the SW API
is present, but in the future it will be expanded to detect whether
a particular browser supports specific APIs (such as push
notifications, for example).

f10f8db5fb fix(service-worker): several misc fixes for corner cases
This commit fixes several issues discovered through use in real apps.

* The sha1() function operated on text content, causing issues for binary-format files.
  A sha1Binary() function which operates on unparsed data now avoids any encoding issues.
* The characters '?' and '+' were not escaped in Glob-to-regex conversion previously, but
  are now.
* URLs from the browser contain the full origin, but were checked against the table of
  hashes from the manifest which only has the path for URLs from the same origin. Now the
  origin is checked and URLs are relativized to the domain root before comparison if
  appropriate.
* ngsw: prefix was missing from data groups, is now added.
* Occasionally servers will return a redirected response for an asset, and caching it could
  cause errors for navigation requests. The SW now handles this by detecting such responses
  and following the redirect manually, to avoid caching a redirected response.
* The request for known assets is now created from scratch from the URL before fetching from
  the network, in order to sanitize it and avoid carrying any special modes or headers that
  might result in opaque responses.
* Debugging log for troubleshooting.
* Avoid creating errors by returning 504 responses on error.
* Fix bug where idle queue doesn't run in some circumstances.
* Add tests for the above.

2f2d5f35bd feat(platform-server): provide a DOM implementation on the server
Fixes #14638

Uses Domino - https://github.com/fgnass/domino and removes dependency on
Parse5.

The DOCUMENT and nativeElement were never typed earlier and were
different on the browser(DOM nodes) and the server(Parse5 nodes). With
this change, platform-server also exposes a DOCUMENT and nativeElement
that is closer to the client. If you were relying on nativeElement on
the server, you would have to change your code to use the DOM API now
instead of Parse5 AST API.

Removes the need to add services for each and every Document
manipulation like Title/Meta etc.

This does *not* provide a global variable 'document' or 'window' on the
server. You still have to inject DOCUMENT to get the document backing
the current platform server instance.

1b1d5f10a1 feat(common): accept object map for HttpClient headers & params (#18490)
Today, constructing a new GET request with headers looks like:

const headers = new HttpHeaders({
  'My-Header': 'header value',
});
http.get('/url', {headers}).subscribe(...);

This indirection is unnecessary. It'd be more ergonomic to write:

http.get('/url', {headers: {'My-Header': 'header value'}}).subscribe(...);

This commit allows that new syntax, both for HttpHeaders and HttpParams.
In the HttpParams case it also allows construction of HttpParams with a map.

079d884b6c feat(common): drop use of the Intl API to improve browser support (#18284)
BREAKING CHANGE: Because of multiple bugs and browser inconsistencies, we have dropped the intl api in favor of data exported from the Unicode Common Locale Data Repository (CLDR).
Unfortunately we had to change the i18n pipes (date, number, currency, percent) and there are some breaking changes.

1. I18n pipes
* Breaking change:
  - By default Angular now only contains locale data for the language `en-US`, if you set the value of `LOCALE_ID` to another locale, you will have to import new locale data for this language because we don't use the intl API anymore.

* Features:
  - you don't need to use the intl polyfill for Angular anymore.
  - all i18n pipes now have an additional last parameter `locale` which allows you to use a specific locale instead of the one defined in the token `LOCALE_ID` (whose value is `en-US` by default).
  - the new locale data extracted from CLDR are now available to developers as well and can be used through an API (which should be especially useful for library authors).
  - you can still use the old pipes for now, but their names have been changed and they are no longer included in the `CommonModule`. To use them, you will have to import the `DeprecatedI18NPipesModule` after the `CommonModule` (the order is important):

  ```ts
  import { NgModule } from '@angular/core';
  import { CommonModule, DeprecatedI18NPipesModule } from '@angular/common';
  @NgModule({
    imports: [
      CommonModule,
      // import deprecated module after
      DeprecatedI18NPipesModule
    ]
  })
  export class AppModule { }
  ```

  Dont forget that you will still need to import the intl API polyfill if you want to use those deprecated pipes.

2. Date pipe
* Breaking changes:
  - the predefined formats (`short`, `shortTime`, `shortDate`, `medium`, ...) now use the patterns given by CLDR (like it was in AngularJS) instead of the ones from the intl API. You might notice some changes, e.g. `shortDate` will be `8/15/17` instead of `8/15/2017` for `en-US`.
  - the narrow version of eras is now `GGGGG` instead of `G`, the format `G` is now similar to `GG` and `GGG`.
  - the narrow version of months is now `MMMMM` instead of `L`, the format `L` is now the short standalone version of months.
  - the narrow version of the week day is now `EEEEE` instead of `E`, the format `E` is now similar to `EE` and `EEE`.
  - the timezone `z` will now fallback to `O` and output `GMT+1` instead of the complete zone name (e.g. `Pacific Standard Time`), this is because the quantity of data required to have all the zone names in all of the existing locales is too big.
  - the timezone `Z` will now output the ISO8601 basic format, e.g. `+0100`, you should now use `ZZZZ` to get `GMT+01:00`.

  | Field type | Format        | Example value         | v4 | v5            |
  |------------|---------------|-----------------------|----|---------------|
  | Eras       | Narrow        | A for AD              | G  | GGGGG         |
  | Months     | Narrow        | S for September       | L  | MMMMM         |
  | Week day   | Narrow        | M for Monday          | E  | EEEEE         |
  | Timezone   | Long location | Pacific Standard Time | z  | Not available |
  | Timezone   | Long GMT      | GMT+01:00             | Z  | ZZZZ          |

* Features
  - new predefined formats `long`, `full`, `longTime`, `fullTime`.
  - the format `yyy` is now supported, e.g. the year `52` will be `052` and the year `2017` will be `2017`.
  - standalone months are now supported with the formats `L` to `LLLLL`.
  - week of the year is now supported with the formats `w` and `ww`, e.g. weeks `5` and `05`.
  - week of the month is now supported with the format `W`, e.g. week `3`.
  - fractional seconds are now supported with the format `S` to `SSS`.
  - day periods for AM/PM now supports additional formats `aa`, `aaa`, `aaaa` and `aaaaa`. The formats `a` to `aaa` are similar, while `aaaa` is the wide version if available (e.g. `ante meridiem` for `am`), or equivalent to `a` otherwise, and `aaaaa` is the narrow version (e.g. `a` for `am`).
  - extra day periods are now supported with the formats `b` to `bbbbb` (and `B` to `BBBBB` for the standalone equivalents), e.g. `morning`, `noon`, `afternoon`, ....
  - the short non-localized timezones are now available with the format `O` to `OOOO`. The formats `O` to `OOO` will output `GMT+1` while the format `OOOO` will be `GMT+01:00`.
  - the ISO8601 basic time zones are now available with the formats `Z` to `ZZZZZ`. The formats `Z` to `ZZZ` will output `+0100`, while the format `ZZZZ` will be `GMT+01:00` and `ZZZZZ` will be `+01:00`.

* Bug fixes
  - the date pipe will now work exactly the same across all browsers, which will fix a lot of bugs for safari and IE.
  - eras can now be used on their own without the date, e.g. the format `GG` will be `AD` instead of `8 15, 2017 AD`.

3. Currency pipe
* Breaking change:
  - the default value for `symbolDisplay` is now `symbol` instead of `code`. This means that by default you will see `$4.99` for `en-US` instead of `USD4.99` previously.

* Deprecation:
  - the second parameter of the currency pipe (`symbolDisplay`) is no longer a boolean, it now takes the values `code`, `symbol` or `symbol-narrow`. A boolean value is still valid for now, but it is deprecated and it will print a warning message in the console.

* Features:
  - you can now choose between `code`, `symbol` or `symbol-narrow` which gives you access to more options for some currencies (e.g. the canadian dollar with the code `CAD` has the symbol `CA$` and the symbol-narrow `$`).

4. Percent pipe
* Breaking change
  - if you don't specify the number of digits to round to, the local format will be used (and it usually rounds numbers to 0 digits, instead of not rounding previously), e.g. `{{ 3.141592 | percent }}` will output `314%` for the locale `en-US` instead of `314.1592%` previously.

0d45828460 feat(forms): add updateOn and ngFormOptions to NgForm
This commit introduces a new Input property called
`ngFormOptions` to the `NgForm` directive. You can use it
to set default `updateOn` values for all the form's child
controls. This default will be used unless the child has
already explicitly set its own `updateOn` value in
`ngModelOptions`.

Potential values: `change` | `blur` | `submit`

```html
<form [ngFormOptions]="{updateOn: blur}">
  <input name="one" ngModel>  <!-- will update on blur-->
</form>
1cfa79ca4e feat(forms): add updateOn support to ngModelOptions
This commit introduces a new option to template-driven forms that
improves performance by delaying form control updates until the
"blur" or "submit" event.  To use it, set the `updateOn` property
in `ngModelOptions`.
```html
<input ngModel [ngModelOptions]="{updateOn: blur}">
```
Like in AngularJS, setting `updateOn` to `blur` or `submit` will
delay the update of the value as well as the validation status.
Updating value and validity together keeps the system easy to reason
about, as the two will always be in sync.  It's also worth noting
that the value/validation pipeline does still run when the form is
initialized (in order to support initial values).
Upcoming PRs will address:
* Support for setting group-level `updateOn` in template-driven forms
* Option for skipping initial validation run or more global error
display configuration
* Better support of reactive validation strategies
cac130eff9 perf(core): Remove decorator DSL which depends on Reflect
BREAKING CHANGE
It is no longer possible to declare classes in this format.
```
Component({...}).
Class({
  constructor: function() {...}
})
```
This format would only work with JIT and with ES5. This mode doesn’t
allow build tools like Webpack to process and optimize the code, which
results in prohibitively large bundles. We are removing this API
because we are trying to ensure that everyone is on the fast path by
default, and it is not possible to get on the fast path using the ES5
DSL. The replacement is to use TypeScript and `@Decorator` format.
```
@Component({...})
class {
  constructor() {...}
}

ff5c58be6b feat(forms): add default updateOn values for groups and arrays (#18536)
This commit adds support for setting default `updateOn` values
in `FormGroups` and `FormArrays`. If you set `updateOn` to
’blur’` at the group level, all child controls will default to `’blur’`,
unless the child has explicitly specified a different `updateOn` value.

```
const c = new FormGroup({
   one: new FormControl()
}, {updateOn: blur});
```

 It's worth noting that parent groups will always update their value and
validity immediately upon value/validity updates from children. In other
words, if a group is set to update on blur and its children are individually
set to update on change, the group will still update on change with its
children; its default value will simply not be used.

fcadbf4bf6 perf: switch angular to use StaticInjector instead of ReflectiveInjector
This change allows ReflectiveInjector to be tree shaken resulting
in not needed Reflect polyfil and smaller bundles.

Code savings for HelloWorld using Closure:

Reflective: bundle.js:  105,864(34,190 gzip)
    Static: bundle.js:  154,889(33,555 gzip)
                            645( 2%)

BREAKING CHANGE:

`platformXXXX()` no longer accepts providers which depend on reflection.
Specifically the method signature when from `Provider[]` to
`StaticProvider[]`.

Example:
Before:
```
[
  MyClass,
  {provide: ClassA, useClass: SubClassA}
]
```

After:
```
[
  {provide: MyClass, deps: [Dep1,...]},
  {provide: ClassA, useClass: SubClassA, deps: [Dep1,...]}
]
```

NOTE: This only applies to platform creation and providers for the JIT
compiler. It does not apply to `@Compotent` or `@NgModule` provides
declarations.

Benchpress note: Previously Benchpress also supported reflective
provides, which now require static providers.

DEPRECATION:

- `ReflectiveInjector` is now deprecated as it will be remove. Use
  `Injector.create` as a replacement.

ebef5e697a feat(forms): add options arg to abstract controls
FormControls, FormGroups, and FormArrays now optionally accept an options
object as their second argument. Validators and async validators can be
passed in as part of this options object (though they can still be passed
in as the second and third arg as before).

```ts
const c = new FormControl(, {
   validators: [Validators.required],
   asyncValidators: [myAsyncValidator]
});
```

This commit also adds support for passing arrays of validators and async
validators to FormGroups and FormArrays, which formerly only accepted
individual functions.

```ts
const g = new FormGroup({
   one: new FormControl()
}, [myPasswordValidator, myOtherValidator]);
```

This change paves the way for adding more options to AbstractControls,
such as more fine-grained control of validation timing.

37797e2b4e feat(common): new HttpClient API
HttpClient is an evolution of the existing Angular HTTP API, which exists
alongside of it in a separate package, @angular/common/http. This structure
ensures that existing codebases can slowly migrate to the new API.

The new API improves significantly on the ergonomics and features of the legacy
API. A partial list of new features includes:

* Typed, synchronous response body access, including support for JSON body types
* JSON is an assumed default and no longer needs to be explicitly parsed
* Interceptors allow middleware logic to be inserted into the pipeline
* Immutable request/response objects
* Progress events for both request upload and response download
* Post-request verification & flush based testing framework

c59c390cdc fix: argument destructuring sometimes breaks strictNullChecks
Destructuring of the form:

function foo({a, b}: {a?, b?} = {})

breaks strictNullChecks, due to the TypeScript bug https://github.com/microsoft/typescript/issues/10078.
This change eliminates usage of destructuring in function argument lists in cases where it would leak
into the public API .d.ts.

3e685f98c6 fix(forms): roll back breaking change with min/max directives
With 4.2, we introduced the min and max validator directives. This was actually a breaking change because their selectors could include custom value accessors using the min/max properties for their own purposes.

For now, we are rolling back the change by removing the exports. At the least, we should wait to add them until a major version. In the meantime, we will have further discussion about what the best solution is going forward for all validator directives.

Closes #17491.

----

PR #17551 tried to roll this back, but did not remove the dead code. This failed internal tests that were checking that all declared directives were used.
This PR rolls back the original PR and commit the same as #17551 while also removing the dead code.

c2d31fb01e fix(http): move destructuring inside {Request,Response}Options ctor
Previously the RequestOptions/ResponseOptions classes had constructors
with a destructured argument hash (represented by the
{Request,Response}OptionsArgs type). This type consists entirely of
optional members.

This produces a .d.ts file which includes the constructor declaration:

constructor({param, otherParam}?: OptionsArgs);

However, this declaration doesn't type-check properly. TypeScript
determines the actual type of the hash parameter to be OptionsArgs | undefined,
which it then concludes does not have a `param` or `otherParam` member.

This is a bug in TypeScript ( https://github.com/microsoft/typescript/issues/10078 ).
As a workaround, destructuring is moved inside the method, where it does not produce
broken artifacts in the .d.ts.

5efc86069f fix(forms): make composition event buffering configurable (#15256)
This commit fixes a regression where `ngModel` no longer syncs
letter by letter on Android devices, and instead syncs at the
end of every word. This broke when we introduced buffering of
IME events so IMEs like Pinyin keyboards or Katakana keyboards
wouldn't display composition strings. Unfortunately, iOS devices
and Android devices have opposite event behavior. Whereas iOS
devices fire composition events for IME keyboards only, Android
fires composition events for Latin-language keyboards. For
this reason, languages like English don't work as expected on
Android if we always buffer. So to support both platforms,
composition string buffering will only be turned on by default
for non-Android devices.

However, we have also added a `COMPOSITION_BUFFER_MODE` token
to make this configurable by the application. In some cases, apps
might might still want to receive intermediate values. For example,
some inputs begin searching based on Latin letters before a
character selection is made.

As a provider, this is fairly flexible. If you want to turn
composition buffering off, simply provide the token at the top
level:

```ts
providers: [
   {provide: COMPOSITION_BUFFER_MODE, useValue: false}
]
```

Or, if you want to change the mode based on locale or platform,
you can use a factory:

```ts
import {shouldUseBuffering} from 'my/lib';
....
providers: [
   {provide: COMPOSITION_BUFFER_MODE, useFactory: shouldUseBuffering}
]
```

431eb309f3 fix(core): provide NgModuleRef in ViewContainerRef.createComponent. (#15350)
This is needed to support the corner cases:
- usage of a `ComponentFactory` that was created on the fly via `Compiler`
- overwriting of the `NgModuleRef` that is associated to a
  `ComponentFactory` by the `ComponentFactoryResolver` from

d3eda7a5b5 feat(router): add ParamMap.keys to get a list of parameters 2017-03-20 09:19:32 -07:00
Victor Berchet
a755b715ed feat(router): introduce ParamMap to access parameters
The Router use the type `Params` for all of:
- position parameters,
- matrix parameters,
- query parameters.

`Params` is defined as follow `type Params = {[key: string]: any}`

Because parameters can either have single or multiple values, the type should
actually be `type Params = {[key: string]: string | string[]}`.

The client code often assumes that parameters have single values, as in the
following exemple:

```
class MyComponent {
sessionId: Observable<string>;
constructor(private route: ActivatedRoute) {}
ngOnInit() {
    this.sessionId = this.route
      .queryParams
      .map(params => params['session_id'] || 'None');
}
}
```

The problem here is that `params['session_id']` could be `string` or `string[]`
but the error is not caught at build time because of the `any` type.

Fixing the type as describe above would break the build because `sessionId`
would becomes an `Observable<string | string[]>`.

However the client code knows if it expects a single or multiple values. By
using the new `ParamMap` interface the user code can decide when it needs a
single value (calling `ParamMap.get(): string`) or multiple values (calling
`ParamMap.getAll(): string[]`).

The above exemple should be rewritten as:

```
class MyComponent {
sessionId: Observable<string>;
constructor(private route: ActivatedRoute) {}
ngOnInit() {
    this.sessionId = this.route
      .queryParamMap
      .map(paramMap => paramMap.get('session_id') || 'None');
}
}
```

Added APIs:
- `interface ParamMap`,
- `ActivatedRoute.paramMap: ParamMap`,
- `ActivatedRoute.queryParamMap: ParamMap`,
- `ActivatedRouteSnapshot.paramMap: ParamMap`,
- `ActivatedRouteSnapshot.queryParamMap: ParamMap`,
- `UrlSegment.parameterMap: ParamMap`

77fd91d615 fix(core): ErrorHandler should not rethrow an error by default (#15077) (#15208)
ErrorHandler can not throw errors because it will unsubscribe itself from
the error stream.

Zones captures errors and feed it into NgZone, which than has a Rx Observable
to feed it into ErrorHandler. If the ErroHandler throws, then Rx will teardown
the observable which in essence causes the ErrorHandler to be removed from the
error handling. This implies that the ErrorHandler can never throw errors.

26d4ce29e8 fix(forms): ensure observable validators are properly canceled (#15132)
Observable subscriptions from previous validation runs should be canceled
before a new subscription is created for the next validation run.
Currently the subscription that sets the errors is canceled properly,
but the source observable created by the validator is not. While this
does not affect validation status or error setting, the source
observables will incorrectly continue through the pipeline until they
complete. This change ensures that the whole stream is canceled.

AsyncValidatorFn previously had an "any" return type, but now it more
explicitly requires a Promise or Observable return type. We don't
anticipate this causing problems given that any other return type
would have caused a runtime error already.

2c5a671341 fix: don't instantiate providers with ngOnDestroy eagerly. (#15070)
BREAKING CHANGE:

Perviously, any provider that had an ngOnDestroy lifecycle hook would be created eagerly.

Now, only classes that are annotated with @Component, @Directive, @Pipe, @NgModule are eager. Providers only become eager if they are either directly or transitively injected into one of the above.

This also makes all `useValue` providers eager, which
should have no observable impact other than code size.

EXPECTED IMPACT:
Making providers eager was an incorrect behavior and never documented.
Also, providers that are used by a directive / pipe / ngModule stay eager.
So the impact should be rather small.

cdc882bd36 feat: introduce source maps for templates (#15011)
The main use case for the generated source maps is to give
errors a meaningful context in terms of the original source
that the user wrote.

Related changes that are included in this commit:

* renamed virtual folders used for jit:
  * ng://<module type>/module.ngfactory.js
  * ng://<module type>/<comp type>.ngfactory.js
  * ng://<module type>/<comp type>.html (for inline templates)
* error logging:
  * all errors that happen in templates are logged
    from the place of the nearest element.
  * instead of logging error messages and stacks separately,
    we log the actual error. This is needed so that browsers apply
    source maps to the stack correctly.
  * error type and error is logged as one log entry.

Note that long-stack-trace zone has a bug that
disables source maps for stack traces,
see https://github.com/angular/zone.js/issues/661.

BREAKING CHANGE:

- DebugNode.source no more returns the source location of a node.

88bc143431 fix: app ids for better <style> management for ssr (#14632)
Currently styles are rendered to the root component element, which ensures they're cleaned up automatically
when the client application is bootstrapped. This is less than ideal as progressive rendering can cause HTML
to be rendered before the CSS is loaded, causing flicker.

This change returns to rendering <style> elements in the <head>, and introduces a mechanism for removing
them on client bootstrap. This relies on associating the server and client bootstrap. Another way to think
of this is that the client, when bootstrapping an app, needs to know whether to expect a server rendered
application exists on the page, and to identify the <style> elements that are part of that app in order
to remove them.

This is accomplished by providing a string TRANSITION_ID on both server and client. For most applications,
this will be achieved by writing a client app module that imports BrowserModule.withServerTransition({appId: <id>}).
The server app module will import this client app module and therefore inherit the provider for
TRANSITION_ID. renderModule[Factory] on the server will validate that a TRANSITION_ID has been provided.

0fa3895d5b feat(compiler): implement style encapsulation for new view engine (#14518)
Included refactoring:
- splits the `RendererV2` into a `RendererFactoryV2` and a `RendererV2`
- makes the `DebugRendererV2` a private class in `@angular/core`
- remove `setBindingDebugInfo` from `RendererV2`, but rename `RendererV2.setText` to
  `RendererV2.setValue` and allow it on comments and text nodes.

b4d444a0a7 feat(platform-server): add API to render Module and ModuleFactory to string (#14381)
- PlatformState provides an interface to serialize the current Platform State as a string or Document.

- renderModule and renderModuleFactory are convenience methods to wait for Angular Application to stabilize and then render the state to a string.

- refactor code to remove defaultDoc from DomAdapter and inject DOCUMENT where it's needed.

4da7925ad5 feat(common): added typed overloaded for AsyncPipe.transform() (#14367)
BREAKING CHANGE: Classes that derive from `AsyncPipe` and override
`transform()` might not compile correctly. Use of `async` pipe in
templates is unaffected.

Mitigation: Update derived classes of `AsyncPipe` that override
`transform()` to include the type parameter overloads.

BREAKING CHANGE:

  a parameter. It was not used and has been there for historical reasons. If you call
  `DifferFactory.create(...)` remove the `ChangeDetectorRef` argument.

600402d440 build(aio): big move of docs related files (#14361)
All the docs related files (docs-app, doc-gen, content, etc)
are now to be found inside the `/aio` folder.

The related gulp tasks have been moved from the top level
gulp file to a new one inside the `/aio` folder.

The structure of the `/aio` folder now looks like:

```
/aio/
  build/         # gulp tasks
  content/       #MARKDOWN FILES for devguides, cheatsheet, etc
    devguides/
    cheatsheets/
  transforms/    #dgeni packages, templates, etc
  src/
    app/
    assets/
    content/    #HTML + JSON build artifacts produced by dgeni from /aio/content.
                #This dir is .gitignored-ed
  e2e/           #protractor tests for the doc viewer app
  node_modules/ #dependencies for both the doc viewer builds and the dgeni stuff
                #This dir is .gitignored-ed
  gulpfile.js   #Tasks for generating docs and building & deploying the doc viewer
```

5bccff0d7a fix(tsc-wrapped): use tsickle's new source map composition feature (#14150)
Tsickle transforms typescript code, which can change the location of code.
This can cause issues such as runtime stack traces reporting that errors
were raised on the incorrect line in the orginal source. This change replaces
the DecoratorDownlevelCompilerHost and the TsickleCompilerHost with tsickle's
TsickleCompilerHost, which automatically composes tsickle's source maps with
typescript's source maps, so that line numbers are correctly reported at
runtime.

d4ffa47ea6 fix(aio): correctly render decorator docs (#14328)
This commit updates the doc-gen to account
for the changes to the codebase for decorators.

There are actually three kinds of calls that create decorators:

* makeDecorator
* makePropDecorator
* makeParamDecorator

Also, the actual documentation for each
decorator is split between two exported symbols:

* `interface [DecoratorName]` contains the metadata fields
* interface [DecoratorName]Decorator` contains a
  "call member" which holds the general description of the decorator.

This processor now identifies all three decorator types, and pulls the
description of the callMember onto the main decorator doc description.

(There are some outstanding interfaces in the angular/angular project that
need to be re-exported from `/angular/modules/@angular/core/src/metadata.ts`
to ensure that the doc-gen is able to access them.)
