51ed3b510d refactor(core): Separate application and platform files even more (#53371)
This separates application and platform code into even more files. This now removes
the ciruclar dependency between scheduling and application ref.

c07805612f test(core): clean up unnecessary nesting in old tests (#52239)
A lot of our tests are wrapped in `{}` which serves no purpose, aside from increasing the nesting level and, in some cases, causing confusion. The braces appear to be a leftover from a time when all tests were wrapped in a `function main() {}`. The function declaration was removed in #21053, but the braces remained, presumably because it was easier to search&replace for `function main()`, but not to remove the braces at the same time.

cd90e4ca08 fix(core): bootstrapApplication call not rejected when error is thrown in importProvidersFrom module (#50120)
Fixes that the promise returned by `bootstrapApplication` wasn't being rejected when a module imported using `importProvidersFrom` throws an error. The problem was that the function that resolves the providers happens very early as the injector is being constructed.

d7d6514add feat(core): Add ability to configure NgZone in bootstrapApplication (#49557)
This commit adds a provider function that allows developers to configure
the `NgZone` instance for the application. In the future, this provider
will be used for applications to specifically opt-in to change detection
powered by ZoneJS rather than it being provided by default.

This API does _not_ specifically provide support for developers to define their own
`NgZone` implementation or opt in to `NoopNgZone` directly. Both of
these are possible today, but are effectively unsupported (applications
that use these are left to their own devices to run change detection at
the appropriate times). That said, developers can still use DI in
`bootstrapApplication` to provide an `NgZone` implementation instead,
it's just not specifically available in the
`provideZoneChangeDetection` function.

4e098fa8a7 refactor(core): move Zone providers to a single provider function (#49373)
This commit moves the providers for `NgZone`-based change detection to a
single provider function. This function is currently called by default
in all places where `NgZone` was provided
(`bootstrapApplication`, `bootstrapModule`, and `TestBed`).

When we want to make Angular applications zoneless by default, we
can make a public provider method that has to be used in order to enable
the zone change detection features. When this method is not called,
Angular would use `NoopNgZone` by default and not initialize any
subscriptions to the `NgZone` stability events.

Side note: There are actually two places that `NgZone` is provided for `TestBed`
(providers in `compileTestModule` and `BrowserTestingModule`). This
likely doesn't need to be in both locations.

9165ff2517 fix(platform-browser): reuse server generated component styles (#48253)
Prior to this change component styles generated on the server where removed prior to the client side component being rendered and attached it's own styles. In some cases this caused flickering. To mitigate this `initialNavigation: enabledBlocking'` was introduced which allowed the remove of server styles to be defer to a latter stage when the application has finished initialization.

This commit changes the need for this, by not removing the server generated component styles and reuse them for client side rendering.

a0b2d36415 refactor(platform-server): make TransferState standalone-friendly (#46879)
This commit updates the `TransferState` to make it `providedIn: 'root'`. This makes the entire `BrowserTransferStateModule` module unnecessary, so it got deprecated as well.

The `ServerTransferStateModule` is still retained, but the `renderApplication` function now also includes the necessary tokens to serialize the `TransferState` automatically, so when using the `renderApplication` function, there is no need to include `ServerTransferStateModule` as well.

This change is a part of the ongoing efforts to update the shape of the FW APIs to make them standalone-friendly (so there is no need to import any NgModules).

55308f2df5 feat(animations): add provideAnimations() and provideNoopAnimations() functions (#46793)
This commit adds the following functions to the public API:

- provideAnimations
- provideNoopAnimations

The goal of those functions is to return a set of providers required to setup animations in an application. The functions are useful when the `bootstrapApplication` function is used to bootstrap an app. The functions allow to avoid the need to import `BrowserAnimationsModule` and `BrowserNoopAnimationsModule` NgModules.

3c66b100dd perf(common): remove unused methods from DomAdapter (#41102)
The `DomAdapter` is present in all Angular apps and its methods aren't tree shakeable.
These changes remove the methods that either aren't being used anymore or were only
used by our own tests. Note that these changes aren't breaking, because the adapter
is an internal API.

The following methods were removed:
* `getProperty` - only used within our own tests.
* `log` - Guaranteed to be defined on `console`.
* `logGroup` and `logGroupEnd` - Only used in one place. It was in the DomAdapter for built-in null checking.
* `logGroupEnd` - Only used in one place. It was placed in the DomAdapter for built in null checking.
* `performanceNow` - Only used in one place that has to be invoked through the browser console.
* `supportsCookies` - Unused.
* `getCookie` - Unused.
* `getLocation` and `getHistory` - Only used in one place which appears to have access to the DOM
already, because it had direct accesses to `window`. Furthermore, even if this was being used
in a non-browser context already, the `DominoAdapter` was set up to throw an error.

The following APIs were changed to be more compact:
* `supportsDOMEvents` - Changed to a readonly property.
* `remove` - No longer returns the removed node.

2e4d17f3a9 perf(core): make sanitization tree-shakable in Ivy mode (#31934)
In VE the `Sanitizer` is always available in `BrowserModule` because the VE retrieves it using injection.

In Ivy the injection is optional and we have instructions instead of component definition arrays. The implication of this is that in Ivy the instructions can pull in the sanitizer only when they are working with a property which is known to be unsafe. Because the Injection is optional this works even if no Sanitizer is present. So in Ivy we first use the sanitizer which is pulled in by the instruction, unless one is available through the `Injector` then we use that one instead.

This PR does few things:
1) It makes `Sanitizer` optional in Ivy.
2) It makes `DomSanitizer` tree shakable.
3) It aligns the semantics of Ivy `Sanitizer` with that of the Ivy sanitization rules.
4) It refactors `DomSanitizer` to use same functions as Ivy sanitization for consistency.

7d6f4885b2 fix(ivy): properly tree-shake away StaticInjector (#30219)
Ivy uses R3Injector, but we are currently pulling in both the StaticInjector

f9bb53a761 fix(ivy): allow TestBed.createComponent to create components in isolation (#29981)
Prior to this change, components created via TestBed.createComponent in the same test were placed into the same root context, which caused problems in conjunction with fixture.autoDetectChanges usage in the same test. Specifically, change detection was triggered immediately for created component (starting from the 2nd one) even if it was not required/desired. This commit makes Ivy and VE behavior consistent: now every component created via TestBed.createComponent is isolated from each other. Current solution uses host element id naming convention, which is not ideal, but helps avoid public API surface changes at this point (we might revisit this approach later).

Note: this commit also adds extra tests to verify bootstrap and change detection behavior in case of multiple components in `bootstrap` array in @NgModule, to make sure this behavior is aligned between Ivy and VE.

29bff0f02e feat(ivy): implement compileComponents method for TestBedRender3 (#27778)
The implementation of the `compileComponents` method for `TestBedRender3` was missing.
We now pass each component through `resolveComponentResources` when `TestBed.compileComponents` is called so that `templateUrl` and `styleUrls` can be resolved asynchronously and used once `TestBed.createComponent` is called.
The component's metadata are overriden in `TestBed` instead of mutating the original metadata like this is the case outside of TestBed. The reason for that is that we need to ensure that we didn't mutate anything so that the following tests can run with the same original metadata, otherwise we it could trigger or hide some errors.

fcadbf4bf6 perf: switch angular to use StaticInjector instead of ReflectiveInjector
This change allows ReflectiveInjector to be tree shaken resulting
in not needed Reflect polyfil and smaller bundles.

Code savings for HelloWorld using Closure:

Reflective: bundle.js:  105,864(34,190 gzip)
    Static: bundle.js:  154,889(33,555 gzip)
                            645( 2%)

BREAKING CHANGE:

`platformXXXX()` no longer accepts providers which depend on reflection.
Specifically the method signature when from `Provider[]` to
`StaticProvider[]`.

Example:
Before:
```
[
  MyClass,
  {provide: ClassA, useClass: SubClassA}
]
```

After:
```
[
  {provide: MyClass, deps: [Dep1,...]},
  {provide: ClassA, useClass: SubClassA, deps: [Dep1,...]}
]
```

NOTE: This only applies to platform creation and providers for the JIT
compiler. It does not apply to `@Compotent` or `@NgModule` provides
declarations.

Benchpress note: Previously Benchpress also supported reflective
provides, which now require static providers.

DEPRECATION:

- `ReflectiveInjector` is now deprecated as it will be remove. Use
  `Injector.create` as a replacement.

77fd91d615 fix(core): ErrorHandler should not rethrow an error by default (#15077) (#15208)
ErrorHandler can not throw errors because it will unsubscribe itself from
the error stream.

Zones captures errors and feed it into NgZone, which than has a Rx Observable
to feed it into ErrorHandler. If the ErroHandler throws, then Rx will teardown
the observable which in essence causes the ErrorHandler to be removed from the
error handling. This implies that the ErrorHandler can never throw errors.

cdc882bd36 feat: introduce source maps for templates (#15011)
The main use case for the generated source maps is to give
errors a meaningful context in terms of the original source
that the user wrote.

Related changes that are included in this commit:

* renamed virtual folders used for jit:
  * ng://<module type>/module.ngfactory.js
  * ng://<module type>/<comp type>.ngfactory.js
  * ng://<module type>/<comp type>.html (for inline templates)
* error logging:
  * all errors that happen in templates are logged
    from the place of the nearest element.
  * instead of logging error messages and stacks separately,
    we log the actual error. This is needed so that browsers apply
    source maps to the stack correctly.
  * error type and error is logged as one log entry.

Note that long-stack-trace zone has a bug that
disables source maps for stack traces,
see https://github.com/angular/zone.js/issues/661.

BREAKING CHANGE:

- DebugNode.source no more returns the source location of a node.
