A lot of our tests are wrapped in `{}` which serves no purpose, aside from increasing the nesting level and, in some cases, causing confusion. The braces appear to be a leftover from a time when all tests were wrapped in a `function main() {}`. The function declaration was removed in #21053, but the braces remained, presumably because it was easier to search&replace for `function main()`, but not to remove the braces at the same time.

This commit extracts the `importProvidersFrom` function and associated
machinery into a separate file, as opposed to being colocated with
`R3Injector`. Separating these functions will mitigate potential future

This commit adds a new internal scope to `R3Injector` for
`EnvironmentInjector`s specifically. This will allow us to scope services to
the environment side of the injector hierarchy specifically, as opposed to
the `'any'` scope which also includes view-side injectors created via

is available to use within `@angular/core` only.

This commit exposes a new `EnvironmentInjector` abstraction, which
generalizes the "module injector" concept to injectors that are not based on
NgModules.
An EnvironmentInjector is a conceptual analogue of an `NgModuleRef` - it
represents an injector on the former "module" DI hierarchy in Angular (now
renamed to the "environment injector hierarchy"). Environment injectors are
created via the `createEnvironmentInjector` function from a list of
`Provider`s.
For backwards compatibility with current code using `NgModuleRef`,
`EnvironmentInjector`s are wrapped by an adapter `NgModuleRef`
implementation, so injecting `NgModuleRef` always returns the latest
`EnvironmentInjector`, even if that injector was not based on an NgModule.
Conversely, NgModule-based `NgModuleRef`s created via `createNgModuleRef`
are _also_ `EnvironmentInjector`s.

This commit implements the `importProvidersFrom` function that allows
extracting a list of `Provider`s from a list of NgModule types. The
R3Injector which implements DI at the "module" level for Angular is
refactored to use this functionality under the hood.
This commit also implements `INJECTOR_INITIALIZER`, a DI multi-provider
token which is used to run initialization logic when an injector is created.

For quite a while it is an unspoken convention to add a trailing
new-line files within the Angular repository. This was never enforced
automatically, but has been frequently raised in pull requests through
manual review. This commit sets up a lint rule so that this is
"officially" enforced and doesn't require manual review.

version of tslib. This involves updating the peer dependency
ranges on `typescript` for the compiler CLI and for the Bazel
package. Tests for new TypeScript features have been added to

We have some internal proxies for all of the Jasmine functions, as well as some other helpers. This code hasn't been touched in more than 5 years, it can lead to confusion and it isn't really necessary since the same can be achieved using Jasmine.

Previously, injector definitions contained a `factory` property that
was used to create a new instance of the associated NgModule class.
Now this factory has been moved to its own `ɵfac` static property on the
NgModule class itself. This is inline with how directives, components and
pipes are created.
There is a small size increase to bundle sizes for each NgModule class,
because the `ɵfac` takes up a bit more space:

In other words `n.\u0275fac = ` is longer than `factory: ` (by 5 characters)
and only because the tooling insists on encoding `ɵ` as `\u0275`.
This can be mitigated in a future PR by only generating the `ɵfac` property
if it is actually needed.

This commit updates the logic that calculates `useFactory` function arguments to avoid relying on `instanceof`
checks (thus always retaining symbols) and relies on flags that DI decorators contain (as a monkey-patched property).
Another perf benefit is having less megamorphic reads while calculating args for the `useFactory` call: we used to
check whether a token has `ngMetadataName` property 4 times (in worst case), now we have just 1 megamorphic read in
all cases.

In a derived service class with no decorator (and therefore no factory) of
its own, the factory function of the base class will be used instead.
Previously this logic had a bug where the factory function would be called
with no arguments, which would incorrectly create an instance of the base
class.
This commit adds logic to call the base class' factory and pass the type of
the derived class, which will correctly construct an instance of the
derived class using the base class' factory. A test is also added to verify
correctness of this behavior.

The compiler generates a 'token' field when it emits an ngInjectableDef,
but this field was not required by defineInjectable or the InjectableDef
interface, nor was it added by InjectionToken.
This commit makes 'token' required and adds it where missing.

Currently with Ivy, `ModuleWithProvider` providers are processed in order
of declaration in the `NgModule` imports. This technically makes makes
sense but is a potential breaking change as `ModuleWithProvider` providers
are processed after all imported modules in View Engine.
In order to keep the behavior of View Engine, the `r3_injector` is updated
to no longer process `ModuleWithProvider` providers egarly.

There is an encoding issue with using delta `Δ`, where the browser will attempt to detect the file encoding if the character set is not explicitly declared on a `<script/>` tag, and Chrome will find the `Δ` character and decide it is window-1252 encoding, which misinterprets the `Δ` character to be some other character that is not a valid JS identifier character

Ivy uses R3Injector, but we are currently pulling in both the StaticInjector
(View Engine injector) and the R3Injector when running with Ivy. This commit
adds an ivy switch so calling Injector.create() pulls in the correct
implementation of the injector depending on whether you are using VE or Ivy.
This saves us about 3KB in the bundle.

`NgModule` requires that `Component`s/`Directive`s/`Pipe`s are listed in
declarations, and that each `Component`s/`Directive`s/`Pipe` is declared
in exactly one `NgModule`. This change adds runtime checks to ensure
that these sementics are true at runtime.
There will need to be seperate set of checks for the AoT path of the
codebase to verify that same set of semantics hold. Due to current
design there does not seem to be an easy way to share the two checks
because JIT deal with references where as AoT deals with AST nodes.

When an Injector is provided, R3Injector instantiates it by calling its
constructor instead of its factory, not resolving dependencies.
With this fix, the ngInjectorDef is checked and the factory is correctly
used if it is found.

ngInjectorDef.imports is generated from @NgModule.imports plus
@NgModule.exports. A problem arises as a result, because @NgModule
exports contain not only other modules (which will have ngInjectorDef
fields), but components, directives, and pipes as well. Because of
locality, it's difficult for the compiler to filter these out at
build time.
It's not impossible, but for now filtering them out at runtime will
allow testing of the compiler against complex applications.
