Fix [here] links in Go code (#29722)
Fixes (partially) #29720.

Split from website changes since this has different reviewers. Assigned
to MDM for review since the non-comment change here touches setup
experience.

Re-verify Linux disk encryption #26693 (#29034)
Fixes #26693

Added functionality to verify that the escrowed LUKS disk encryption key is valid. To achieve this, two new fleetd tables were added: lsblk and cryptsetup_luks_salt/table to compare the stored encryption key with the ones present on the host.

Fixed setup experience UI hanging when a step is removed from the payload (#29385)
This is one facet of https://github.com/fleetdm/fleet/issues/28664

When you run gitops or otherwise just do something to remove a software
installer from the setup experience list while it is running and then
delete that software installer, setup experience fails to proceed past
the "steps" screen because it is expecting all software in the initial
payload to complete installation even if those installers were not in
the current payload.

This now tracks the status of items in the current payload and as a
small enhancement deletes the items that disappear
from the payload, which seemed like the best thing to do

macOS setup experience scrolling optimization (#28995)
For #28450

Avoids unnecessary updates to the UI's step list which makes a few nice
changes:
1. We only scroll when actually needed
2. We scroll to the changed item, rather than potentially an unrelated
item that the UI decided "changed" because we marked it for update even
though its UI state did not change

28434 Setup experience reliability (#28931)
For  #28434

This ticket is largely changing the options we invoke Swift Dialog with
so that it is more reliable. The only small divergence from the ticket
is that the command to exit was changed to command+shift+x due to
limitations in Swift Dialog(no way to require control + key)

Fix detected CVEs and docker scout exit code to fail the Github Action (#28836)
For #28837.

Fixing this all of this because we got multiple reports from the
community and customers and these were also detected by Amazon
Inspector.

- Fixes CVE-2025-22871 by upgrading Go from 1.24.1 to 1.24.2.
- `docker scout` now fails the daily scheduled action if there are
CRITICAL,HIGH CVEs (we missed setting `exit-code: true`).
- Report CVE-2025-46569 as not affected by it because of our use of
OPA's go package.
- Report CVE-2024-8260 as not affected by it because Fleet doesn't run
on Windows.
- The `security/status.md` shows a lot of changes because we are now
sorting CVEs so that newest come first.

This will help us avoid issues like this where the log message never

Most of the changes are no-op type changes like removing unneeded
typecast or disabling gosec on reviewed lines of code

Fix bad Nudge launch command (#28729)
For #28727

## Details

[This
patch](866d8bcc00)
was intended to ensure that Fleet Desktop was always run with the
currently-logged-in user. This patch didn't take Nudge into account, and
it is now causing a command like sudo -u /usr/bin/open /path/to/nudge to
execute, which fails.

This PR fixes the issue by checking whether `opts.user` is populated,
and if not, falling back to the previous behavior for opening apps.

## Testing

I tested that Desktop still opens with this, so it at least doesn't
break that. Discussions ongoing re: how to test Nudge.

Update WLAN XML profile verification so they aren't resent (#28296)
Fixes https://github.com/fleetdm/fleet/issues/24394 by adding new
verification logic to detect and verify these profiles. We only verify a
subset of the properties because there are certain settings such as the
Authentication which Windows seems to upgrade in circumstances where it
can(e.g. WPA2 specified but interface + router supports WPA3 results in
WPA3 on the client and there are likely other similar scenarios). After
discussion with design team we've decided the limited verification is
better than what we had before and a good solution for now.

I know this is extremely heavy on comments but the behavior is strange
and non obvious.

Also see latest comment on the issue for some testing discussion:

Add timeout for tray app startup (#28097)
Fixes https://github.com/fleetdm/fleet/issues/27419 by adding a timeout
so the tray app gets restarted if initialization hangs up. One reason we
know of that it can hang up seems to be a strange bug where Windows
Explorer, early in the initialization process, returns an "unspecified
error" when attempting to initialize the tray app but there could be
other reasons. In these cases if the tray never gets the onReady
callback, killing it seems to be a good way to get it to restart, retry
initialization and hopefully succeed(in my testing this works great).

For testing this under the customer-reported Autopilot scenario,
assuming you already have the basic Autopilot flow working with the QA
fleet server, you'll want to use a locally generated MSI installer
package from a local TUF repo and you'll want to point
FLEET_DEV_DOWNLOAD_FLEETDM_URL at that installer package. I did the
following to do that using the local QA fleet server since it is setup
for autopilot:

1. Setup one ngrok URL for TUF pointed at localhost:8081
2. Setup another ngrok URL for installers pointed at localhost:8085
3. (note this will spin up the TUF fileserver)
```
#!/bin/bash
set -e
SYSTEMS="windows" \
MSI_FLEET_URL=https://qa.fleetdm.com \
MSI_TUF_URL=https://[ngrok pointed at localhost:8081] \
GENERATE_MSI=1 \
ENROLL_SECRET=[enroll secret] \
FLEET_DESKTOP=1 \
TUF_PORT=8081 \
DEBUG=1 \
./tools/tuf/test/main.sh
```

Then to serve the installers

```
mkdir -p tmp/fleetd-base-dir/stable
cp fleet-osquery.msi tmp/fleetd-base-dir/stable/fleetd-base.msi
sha256sum tmp/fleetd-base-dir/stable/fleetd-base.msi
```

then create a meta.json containing the following under
tmp/fleetd-base-dir/stable:
```
{
  "fleetd_base_msi_url": "[your localhost:8085 ngrok URL]/stable/fleetd-base.msi",
  "fleetd_base_msi_sha256": "[the sha 256 sum]"
}
```

Then
go run ./tools/file-server 8085 ./tmp/fleetd-base-dir

Then update FLEET_DEV_DOWNLOAD_FLEETDM_URL on the QA server to point to
the ngrok URL pointing to localhost:8085

Update to Go 1.24.1 (#27506)
For #26713

# Details

This PR updates Fleet and its related tools and binaries to use Go
version 1.24.1.

Scanning through the changelog, I didn't see anything relevant to Fleet
that requires action. The only possible breaking change I spotted was:

> As [announced](https://tip.golang.org/doc/go1.23#linux) in the Go 1.23
release notes, Go 1.24 requires Linux kernel version 3.2 or later.

Linux kernel 3.2 was released in January of 2012, so I think we can
commit to dropping support for earlier kernel versions.

The new [tools directive](https://tip.golang.org/doc/go1.24#tools) is
interesting as it means we can move away from using `tools.go` files,
but it's not a required update.

Ensure MacOS desktop app launched as correct user (#27296)
For #25924

This PR attempts to fix the issue where the Fleet desktop icon sometimes
fails to appear on MacOS hosts until the hosts are rebooted. Anecdotal
evidence points to this being an issue when system setup is happening,
leading to the theory that Orbit is attempting to launch the app as
`_mbsetupuser` rather than the real logged-in user. The fix here is to
use a different command to get the name of the logged-in user (ignoring
`_mbsetupuser` if it appears), and to launch the desktop app as that
user using `sudo`.

I have tested this on MacOS and Ubuntu hosts, and verified that the
desktop app launches as expected on both.

We don't have a solid reproduction scenario for the issue, but we do
have [some ways to look for relevant
errors](https://github.com/fleetdm/fleet/issues/19172#issuecomment-2627812786),
so we can try this out and see if those errors cease.

## Details

This PR addresses the issue that on Ubuntu, if a user restarts their
display manager (e.g. with `sudo systemctl restart gdm3`), the Fleet
Desktop tray icon disappears and doesn't come back. The solution in this
PR is to add a function that runs in a loop and checks whether the tray
icon still exists, and if not, kills the Fleet Desktop process. The
parent Orbit process already has code to restart the desktop if it dies.
We also update the Orbit checker to run every 15 seconds, to limit the
delay in the icon coming back after a restart.

Also included in this PR is a rename from `desktop_unix.go` to
`desktop_linux.go`, which will be used automatically for linux builds,
and a new `desktop_darwin.go` for macos builds, and the removal of
redundant build directives for all.

add telemetry for fleet desktop failing to launch because of missing domain (#25752)
For #25689, #19499

We wanted to add some additional telemetry for fleet desktop to know
when it was failing to launch based on the error message from a [recent
bug] https://github.com/fleetdm/fleet/issues/25689. This bug and some
related ones seemed intermittent and we were unable to reproduced so we
are hoping adding this telemetry to give some more analytics on this
issue.

Changing this to reduce confusion moving forward. It didn't cause any

Changes to migrate to new TUF repository (#23588)
# Changes

- orbit >= 1.38.0, when configured to connect to
https://tuf.fleetctl.com (existing fleetd deployments) will now connect
to https://updates.fleetdm.com and start using the metadata in path
`/opt/orbit/updates-metadata.json`.
- orbit >= 1.38.0, when configured to connect to some custom TUF (not
Fleet's TUFs) will copy `/opt/orbit/tuf-metadata.json` to
`/opt/orbit/updates-metadata.json` (if it doesn't exist) and start using
the latter.
- fleetctl `4.63.0` will now generate artifacts using
https://updates.fleetdm.com by default (or a custom TUF if
`--update-url` is set) and generate two (same file) metadata files
`/opt/orbit/updates-metadata.json` and the legacy one to support
downgrades `/opt/orbit/tuf-metadata.json`.
- fleetctl `4.62.0` when configured to use custom TUF (not Fleet's TUF)
will generate just the legacy metadata file
`/opt/orbit/tuf-metadata.json`.

[fleetctl] fix deb package build (#23796)
I'm trying to setup a GitLab CI job to build the deb packages, but it
fails with:

```
Error: open output file: open build/fleet-osquery_1.35.0_amd64.deb: no such file or directory
```

It happens because I can't mount the `build` volume as I would do on my
local pc. To reproduce:

```
docker run -it fleetdm/fleetctl package --type=deb --fleet-url=my.url --enroll-secret=mysecret
```

`pkg` and `msi` works fine. I can workaround it by creating the `build`
dir first, but I think that's also fleetctl job to create it.

Enable launch daemon before trying to bootstrap it (#22764)
## Description
Moves the enabling of the launch daemon to before trying to launch it,
so it doesn't fail if the launch daemon is disabled

## Testing Done
launch daemon is enabled
```
 launchctl print system | grep fleetdm
		   78074      - 	com.fleetdm.orbit
		"com.fleetdm.orbit" => enabled
```
uninstalling FleetDM via
https://github.com/fleetdm/fleet/blob/main/orbit/tools/cleanup/cleanup_macos.sh
```
sudo ~/Desktop/removefleet.sh
Removing fleet, system will be unenrolled in 15 seconds...
Executing detached child process
```
launch daemon is still enabled:
```
launchctl print system | grep fleetdm
		   78074      - 	com.fleetdm.orbit
		"com.fleetdm.orbit" => enabled
```
If I manually disable the launch daemon...
```
sudo launchctl disable system/com.fleetdm.orbit
```
```
launchctl print system | grep fleetdm
		       0     78 	com.fleetdm.orbit
		"com.fleetdm.orbit" => disabled
```
... then the install will fail:
```
sudo installer -pkg ~/Desktop/fleet-osquery-1.18.3.pkg -target /
installer: Package name is Fleet osquery
installer: Installing at base path /
installer: The install failed. (The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance. An error occurred while running scripts from the package “fleet-osquery-1.18.3.pkg”.)
```
Excerpt from `/var/log/install.log`:
```
2024-10-08 15:00:57-07 HOSTNAME package_script_service[80350]: ./postinstall: Retrying launchctl bootstrap...
2024-10-08 15:01:03-07 HOSTNAME package_script_service[80350]: ./postinstall: Bootstrap failed: 5: Input/output error
2024-10-08 15:01:04-07 HOSTNAME package_script_service[80350]: ./postinstall: Failed to bootstrap system /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.fleetdm.orbit.plist
```
If I then enable the launch daemon...
```
sudo launchctl enable system/com.fleetdm.orbit
```
```
launchctl print system | grep fleetdm
		"com.fleetdm.orbit" => enabled
```
... then the postinstall in the pkg works fine:
```
sudo installer -pkg ~/Desktop/fleet-osquery-1.18.3.pkg -target /
installer: Package name is Fleet osquery
installer: Installing at base path /
installer: The install was successful.
```
So, yeah, the enabling has to be before the launching of the launch
daemon.

Update pmset_darwin.go (#19639)
From the pmset man page:

-g custom displays custom settings for all power sources.

i.e., pmset -g is incomplete.

What would be even better is pmset -g everything which outputs results
from all -g options but the schema of this data is inconsistent (it's
not all key/vals) so would probably require more work.

update to go1.22.3 + dependencies (#19142)
For #16795, this:

- Updates Go to go1.22.3
- Per
https://github.com/fleetdm/fleet/issues/16795#issuecomment-2100450618, I
also ran the following to update the versions requested by @getvictor

```
go get github.com/kataras/golog@v0.1.12
go get github.com/kataras/iris/v12@v12.2.11
go get github.com/sethvargo/go-password@v0.3.0
```

**Notes**

After this is merged people will need to update their Go version. I use
gvm and I did it like:

```
$ gvm install go1.22.3
$ gvm use go1.22.3 --default
```

**Relevant changes**

The release notes mention:

> Previously, the variables declared by a “for” loop were created once
> and updated by each iteration. In Go 1.22, each iteration of the loop
> creates new variables, to avoid accidental sharing bugs.

However, we already have a lint rule (see
https://github.com/fleetdm/fleet/pull/13877) for this scenario, so it
shouldn't affect us.

Support Ubuntu 24.04 with Xorg (by detecting user's DISPLAY environment variable) (#18996)
#18925 (Should also fix #17660.)

Tests:

	- Xorg
		- Works with Chrome.
		- Works with Firefox.
- Ubuntu 24.04
	- Wayland
		- Doesn't work with Chrome.
		- Doesn't work with Firefox.
- Xorg (when using Xorg it defaults to `DISPLAY=:1`, and with the
changes in this PR it works):
		- Works with Chrome.
		- Works with Firefox.
---

How to change between Wayland and Xorg:

- Set `WaylandEnable=false` in `/etc/gdm3/custom.conf` and reboot.

---

How to determine what's running:
```sh
$ loginctl
SESSION  UID USER SEAT  TTY
      2 1000 luk  seat0 tty2
     c2 1000 luk
$ loginctl show-session 2 -p Type
